I recently visited Shiels Jewellers while looking to purchase a watch and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience.nI had my eye on the beautiful Seiko Presage Japanese Garden, which was priced at $995. While browsing, I asked the sales assistant a simple question about the difference between solar, battery, and mechanical watches as I wasnu2019t aware there were so many different types. Instead of being helpful, she spoke to me in a very condescending way that made me feel like I was asking a stupid question.nDespite that, I was still interested in purchasing the watch. I asked if there was any room for negotiation on the price and was told u201cabsolutely not.u201d She explained that the watch was hard to come by and that was why they couldnu2019t offer any sort of deal. She did say she could hold the watch for an hour while I thought about it.nI decided to keep looking around and wandered into Wallace Bishop a few stores down. To my surprise, they had the exact same watch for the exact same $995 price. When I asked their sales assistant if the price was negotiable, she happily looked into it and after a bit of research offered it to me for $750. Needless to say, we shook hands and I went home with the watch.nThe ironic part is that I was actually prepared to pay around $900 for the watch at Shiels, but because the staff member there was unwilling to negotiate at all, they lost the sale entirely. In the end, their attitude saved me $245.nCustomer service really makes all the difference. At Shiels I felt unwelcome and dismissed, while at Wallace Bishop the staff member was friendly, helpful, and willing to work with me.nIf you're shopping for a watch, save yourself the hassle and head to Wallace Bishop instead.

I have purchased 3 high end pieces from this store within the last 6 months. I am happy with the quality of the products however the experience of shopping in this store is extremely sub par. The manager and staff are extremely rude, they make no effort to provide good customer service. Do not expect any form of back up assistance such as watch resizing. It will be met with eye rolling and bad attitude. Allow a good 45 minutes for service as you will need to wait for the staff to finish their personal conversations. Do not recommend this store to anyone. I am satisfied with the items on offer, just choose a different shields store.

The anklet I bought lasted less than 2 days.nI spoke with the manager in the presence of my 8 year old daughter and mentioned I had found it in my bed broken.nShe immediately said that she could not do anything about it as I had worn it to bed. I have many pieces of jewellery including two anklets on all the times and none have broken while I slept within two days of having them and I pointed this out to the manager. She said jewellery was not meant to be worn to bed. I told her that was not expressed to me when I purchased the product and do they disclose that information to customersu2026at which point the manager said u2018nou2019 and compared it to if I bought a car and crashed it around the corner I wouldnu2019t be able to return it (if it was faulty like the anklet I bought then I absolutely would be able to return it!).nAs my daughter was watching the conversation I decided to end it. I packed up my below par quality peice of jewellery and exited the storeu2026.but here is where it gets goodu2026.nUpon leaving the store the manager and another member of staff were audibly laughing at me. Now, I can ignore bullyu2019s however my little girl looked at me and asked if they were laughing at meu2026I told her they were.nHow unfortunate that a little girl saw an interaction that resulted in bullying!nVery disappointing!
